Donna Urian - Fischer Cunnane & Associates

Donna L. Urian, CPA, MST

Shareholder, Director of Taxation

What do you get when you combine a detailed knowledge of federal and state tax law with a global view of her clients’ operations and an inquisitive mindset? Donna Urian, tax private investigator.

As head of the Fischer Cunnane tax department, Donna approaches every client conversation as an opportunity to uncover ways to reduce tax liability. I always have the attitude that I will find something.

At the same time, she advises clients not to let taxes drive business strategy. Donna sees her team’s role as evaluating the entire spectrum of the client’s activities and working to keep the organization (and the individuals) in compliance and minimize taxes.

Donna brings a fresh approach to complex corporate challenges, whether she is performing a nexus study to reduce multistate tax liabilities, recommending a streamlined corporate tax structure or acting as the point of contact to address international tax needs through BKR International.

A true strategic advisor, Donna recognizes the value of multiple perspectives. Working in conjunction with the client’s team of professional advisors—including the attorney, insurance advisor, bank lender and wealth management advisor—allows her to recommend solutions that make the most sense for the clients’ full range of objectives. Donna also appreciates the opportunity to learn new points of view.

Donna’s love of learning is one of the reasons she was attracted to taxation, where federal, state and local laws are constantly evolving. She is equally committed to giving back by sharing her knowledge with her community and profession. She has been a speaker and presenter for organizations such as the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Chester County Economic Development Council and Girl Scouts of America. She also has taught tax courses at Widener University, and she serves on an advisory council for the school’s accounting department, which allows her to help mold the next generation of accountants.

Donna is a passionate champion for women in business, and she has helped promote business opportunities for and among women through her involvement with the Women’s Referral Network of Chester County, the Chester County Women’s Commission, and the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry’s Women in Business programs.
